Planning Launch Party

I am eagerly anticipating the launch of my new book in six days! It is hard to believe the day I have dreamed about all my life is nearly here! I am sure most of you had a dream when you were a child, and for some of you, that dream never disappeared or came true. I guess you could say I am a perfect example of the expression, “It is never too late!” If anything, the long wait has made it all the more beautiful for me. To be able to combine my three passions, children, writing, and books, into this one project is extraordinary. I sincerely hope it helps many parents and children navigate this difficult time together, but to some degree the extent to which that happens is out of my control. I will do everything I can to spread the word and hopefully the word will spread. No matter what happens, I know I did my best and accomplished a lifelong dream. With the help of my friends, family, and followers, “my baby”, this book, will hopefully achieve my goal. I have always been an optimist, and this played a huge part in this journey. I did not allow my fear of failure to obstruct my desire to contribute what I could to help alleviate the fear, confusion, anger, and anxiety many young people were feeling. I also realized many parents were extremely uncomfortable talking about difficult situations with their children. Since I knew it was important to talk to children about these situations, I hoped I might be able to offer those parents a vehicle to facilitate those conversations. What a child will imagine is often much scarier than the truth, so we owe them the facts in ways appropriate to their age and maturity level. Children are very perceptive, and they know when things are wrong whether we want to shelter them or not. They realize when their parents are anxious and/or unhappy better than most adults do. Therefore, we can not avoid discussions and just hope the problem will disappear. Reading a book together and then discussing it is a very simple, tender way to talk about the present situation in a very safe and comfortable way. Please let me know what you think of the book once you have your copy and how it was received by your children.
