The most significant way to increase your children’s literacy and their love of reading is to read to them from their infancy until they will not let you anymore! When I look back on my years as a mother and now as a grandmother, some of my most precious memories are reading with my children and grandchildren. Once they can read themselves, we still read together by taking turns reading aloud which increases their comprehension and speaking skills. This habit has even helped my adolescent grandkids read Shakespeare, Dickens and other books with language unfamiliar to them.
